NFD weekend round-up

Log leaders Baroka FC extended their lead at the top of the standings while Cape Town All Stars moved to second after beating Witbank Spurs.

Witbank Spurs 0-3 Cape Town All Stars

Cape Town All Stars leap-frogged Witbank Spurs and into second spot with a 3-0 victory in Mpumalanga.

The Cape side took the lead in the opening minutes, thanks to a stunning goal from Ranga Chivaviro, a player that Igugu Lekapa have just signed, from Spurs. The goal saw Chivaviro selling a dummy to two of his former team-mates before smashing the ball into the far corner of the net. Chivaviro was then to make it 2-0 when he completed his brace 15 minutes from time, before Zeph Mbokoma (pictured) scored in added time.

Moroka Swallows 1-1 Black Leopards

Swallows came back from a goal down at half time to earn a point. Phathutshedzo Nange had given Lidoda Duvha the lead, but Aleni Lebyane ensured a share of the spoils for the Birds with a second half equaliser.

Baroka FC 2-0 AmaZulu

Baroka FC meanwhile ended the day four points clear at the top of the standings when they beat Usuthu 2-0.

AmaZulu were down to 10 men midway through the second half when Tapelo Nyongo received a red card for a late challenge.

The home side were to scored a few minutes later when Sage Stevens was adjudged to have netted an own goal..

The Limpopo team sealed the win in added time with a Matete tap in after an assist by Thabiso Kutumela.

Royal Eagles 3-1 FC Cape Town

Eagles moved to within striking distance of the top three with a comfortable victory over struggling FC Cape Town. The hosts went 2-0 up before the African Beasts pulled one back, but a third goal for Eagles late on sealed victory. Siyanda Ngubo netted a brace for Eagles, with Steven Zwane also on target. Kali Bafana scored for the visitors.

African Warriors 0-1 Milano United

An early goal for the Cape side, a penalty from veteran defender Nasief Morris, was enough to earn the Kinnes maximum points away in the Free State.
