After a long-standing partnership of 10 years, Absa today celebrated the renewal of the Absa Premiership sponsorship with the Premier Soccer League (PSL) for a further five years by launching the exciting 2017/18 Absa Premiership ‘Woza Nazo’ campaign.
The Chairman of the PSL, Dr. Irvin Khoza together with the Group Executive of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Absa, Bobby Malabie announced the new deal between Absa and the PSL.
PSL Chairman Dr. Khoza said: “The last 10 years of this partnership have demonstrated that for a relationship to enjoy longevity, both sides must have common goals that glue them together. As we renew for a further five years, we would like to thank Absa for their trust and confidence in the PSL as the best vehicle for their message to millions of people.
“As we continue with the sponsorship, we do know that for this partnership to remain impactful, it cannot be business as usual; we have to continuously innovate to remain relevant. We are therefore excited about some of the innovations coming up in the 2017/18 season including the ‘Absa Premiership Rivalry weekends.”
In the 2017/18 Absa Premiership season, Absa is set to bring back the fire through Woza Nazo, meaning Bring it On. Absa is setting the stage for players to bring the magic and for the fans to bring the noise through the Woza Nazo rivalry matches such as fixtures between city rivals, historic rivalry and the David versus Goliath battle, just to name three that will take place around country.
The 2017/18 Absa Premiership season, which will see the 16 Absa Premiership clubs battling for the R10 million winners’ cheque, will kick off on Friday, 18 August 2017, with the fixture between defending league champions Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City at the Bidvest stadium.
A day later, Saturday 19 August 2017, will see the start of the exciting, new brand campaign by Absa – Absa Premiership Woza Nazo – get off the ground as SuperSport United welcome city rivals Mamelodi Sundowns to the Lucas Moripe stadium for the Tshwane Derby.

The new and exciting additions ahead of Absa Premiership Woza Nazo 2017/18 season include:
• Absa Red Ticket Zone access on match day, which will see the bank rewarding loyal customers with unique and unforgettable experiences through the beautiful game.
• Fans will have an opportunity ahead of every big ‘rivalry’ match to purchase an Absa Red Ticket from the Woza Nazo Bus that will be on the ground for the rival match, for only
– The Absa Red Ticket pass will include a bundle of exclusive Absa Premiership experiences including branded merchandise, food and refreshments and block-booked premium seated at a unique, Absa red Ticket Zone grandstand at the stadium.
• On match day, fans will stand a chance to R1million through the Absa Kick for a Million competition. Six fans from the rival teams will be selected from both the public and from the Absa Red ticket holders. The overall winner of this competition will take home R1-million after a series of challenges and stages as per the competition rules.
