According to SAFA, Rantie failed to report for camp as scheduled, although he was reported to have arrived in the country on time.

“Striker Tokelo Rantie has been released from the Bafana Bafana camp after he failed to report for camp on time.

“Rantie was scheduled to report for duty on Sunday, 2 October 2016 but failed to do so although he had already arrived in South Africa from overseas.

“He also did not report for camp the following day on Monday, 3 October 2016 the day the rest of the team arrived for official training.”

Head coach Shakes Mashaba indicated that the decision to release Rantie was made to maintain team spirit and discipline.

“We thought in the spirit of encouraging team spirit and discipline, we must release Rantie from camp,” said Mashaba.

Rantie’s matter will now be handled by the Association for further disciplinary measures.
