Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila are the Nedbank Cup champions after narrowly beating Chippa United 1-0 in the Nedbank Cup final at the Free State Stadium on Saturday evening.
With the win, Vhadau Vha Damani will play in the CAF Confederation Cup next season. This might happen under a different name as the team has relocated from Tshakhuma to Polokwane after it was bought by businessman Abram Sello, who has since indicated that the team will be rebranded.
The only goal of the game was scored by Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo in the 27th minute. His long range shot was deflected off Frederic Nsabiyumva before beating the flat-footed Rashid Watenga in the Chippa goal.
Both teams created numerous chances to score but at the end of the day, Ndlondlo’s goal was enough for Dylan Kerr’s team to win their first ever major trophy and walk away with a R7m prize money.
